Recently I tried Hugo Tea Matcha Wazuka, and honestly, it was better than I expected.
At first, I mainly bought it because the packaging looked nice. The silver tin with the brown label has a very clean and simple look — kinda like those minimalist café products you always see online. Nothing too flashy, but still aesthetic enough to leave on your shelf.
After opening it, the matcha itself looked fresh with a bright green color, which was already a good sign.
Taste Review
What I liked most about Matcha Wazuka is that it’s very easy to drink.
Some ceremonial matcha powders can taste super grassy or bitter, especially if you’re not used to drinking pure matcha. But this one tastes softer and smoother.
It has:
- a little nuttiness,
- light umami flavor,
- slight natural sweetness,
- and barely any bitterness.
I tried it both hot and iced, and honestly I preferred it iced with oat milk. The flavor still comes through without tasting too strong.

Good for Everyday Matcha
This feels like the kind of matcha you can drink daily without getting tired of it.
It works well for:
- morning matcha,
- iced lattes,
- or just casual matcha-making at home.
You don’t really need to add much sugar either because the flavor is already pretty balanced.
Packaging & Overall Experience
The tin feels sturdy and seals well, which is important because matcha loses freshness pretty easily.

I also liked that the whole product feels clean and simple instead of overly “luxury.” It gives more calm café vibes than expensive fancy branding.
Overall, I think Matcha Wazuka is a really solid choice if you:
- want beginner-friendly ceremonial matcha,
- like smooth matcha instead of bitter ones,
- or just want a matcha that looks and tastes nice for daily use.
Nothing overly complicated — just a good, enjoyable matcha.
